Pandemic Romance,
or,
Love In a Surgical Mask
We managed to find each other in the middle of the pandemic, despite a healthy dose of pessimism towards online dating. We met for happy hour in San Diego’s Little Italy and even though we were both wearing masks for the first 45 minutes, every minute we spent together felt more right. Happy hour soon turned into dinner, and then 6 dates in the next two weeks. Soon we were spending all our time together.
It may have taken us a while to find each other, but once we did it just felt natural. We quickly found we had a similar sense of humor, love of sushi, and appreciation of music. Jeff fell in love with Nazila’s artistic soul, elevated fashion sense, and quick wit, while Nazila loved Jeff’s calm and grounded attitude, wide-ranging interest and experience, and caring spirit.
After spending all our time together for a year, we knew we were right for each other, and had found someone with whom we could truly be ourselves. On our 1 year anniversary, Jeff recreated our first date - we went back to the spots where we went for our first date and he proposed at the very place where it all began!
We are so grateful to have found each other, and so happy to share the joy we have found with all of you. We can’t wait for this exciting new chapter to begin!
